What is MyChart?
MyChart offers patients personalized and secure on-line access to portions of their medical records. It enables you to securely use the Internet to help manage and receive information about your health. With MyChart, you can use the Internet to:

  • View your health summary from the Parkland electronic health record.
  • View test results.
  • View past and upcoming appointments.

Is there a fee to use MyChart?
MyChart is a free service offered to all Parkland patients.

How do I sign up?
Patients who wish to participate will be issued a MyChart activation code during their clinic visit. This code will enable you to login and create your own user ID and password. If you were not issued an activation code, you may call your primary care clinic to get one or ask to sign up during you next office visit.

When can I see my test results in MyChart?
Your test results are released to your MyChart account after your physician has reviewed them. This is generally within 1-3 days.

Why are certain test results not shared electronically via MyChart?
Your provider is able to determine which types of test results are able to be accessed through MyChart. Further, tests of a very sensitive nature are not released to MyChart.

If some of my health information on MyChart is not correct, what should I do?
Your MyChart information comes directly from Parkland’s electronic medical record. Ask your doctor to correct any inaccurate information at your next clinic visit. Your health information is reviewed and updated in your electronic medical record each visit.

I forgot my password. What should I do?

Can you send me a new activation code as I have lost it, let it expire or did not receive it?

You may also request a new code from your primary care clinic at your next visit. Activation codes will remain valid for 7 days after they have been issued.

Where can I update my personal information (e.g., home address, e-mail or change my password)?
You must contact clinic staff to update your demographics. You may change your password and the email address that is used for notifications by selecting MyAccount and going to Change Password and Notifications.

How is MyChart secure?
We take great care to ensure your health information is kept private and secure. Access to information is controlled through secure activation codes, personal ID's, and passwords. Each person controls their password, and the account cannot be accessed without that password. Further, MyChart uses the latest 128-bit SSL encryption technology with no caching to automatically encrypt your session with MyChart. Unlike conventional e-mail, all MyChart messaging is done while you are securely logged on to our website.

What is your Privacy Policy?
MyChart is owned and operated by Parkland Hospital and is fully compliant with federal and state laws pertaining to your privacy. Your name and e-mail address will be treated with the same care and privacy given your health records and will never be sold or leased by Parkland.

I was logged out of MyChart, what happened?
We aim to protect your privacy and security of your information. While logged into MyChart, if your keyboard remains idle for 15 minutes or more, you will be automatically logged out of MyChart. We recommend that you log out of your MyChart session if you need to leave your computer for even a short period of time.

What do I need to use MyChart?
You need access to a computer connected to the Internet and an up-to-date browser (such as Internet Explorer).

My activation code does not work, what should I do?
For your security, your activation code expires after 7 days and is no longer valid after the first time you use it. If you still have problems, you may contact our COVID/MyChart Support line at 214-590-7000 Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. - 7 p.m.

Is my activation code my user ID?
No, your activation code is not your MyChart ID or password. You will use this code only once to log into MyChart for the first time. (The code will expire after you have used it or after 7 days). When you log into MyChart the first time, you will then be asked to create your own unique MyChart ID and password.

Can I access MyChart from a mobile device?
Yes, there’s an app for that. You can download the MyChart app for your iPhone or Android device. Go to the app store and search for MyChart. Once the app is loaded you can enter your location and choose Parkland from the list of available institutions. The app can only be used to access your account after you have signed up. You cannot create an account through the app.

Sharing Your Health Information with another App
If you would like to use an application (app) to access and import your Health Information, Parkland Health & Hospital System gives you the ability to do this. You must have an active MyChart account. Your security settings will give MyChart permission to share your information. This means your user name and your password gives permission to MyChart to share information you choose with the app. To help keep your information private and safe, there is a time limit when the app and your MyChart can talk to one another.
Follow the app's instructions to connect your accounts. The information you may choose to share includes your allergies, health conditions, your medicines, your lab test results, your family history, the goals for your care, immunizations (shots) you have had, procedures you have had done, whether or not you smoke, your vital signs and your plan of care

Basic Steps: Sharing Your Health Information with another App
How to allow information sharing:

  1. Choose an app you wish to share your health info with OR respond to an app asking you to share your health information.
  2. Read the app's Terms & Conditions.
  3. Follow the app's instructions.
  4. At the MyChart login screen, enter your user ID and your password to allow health information sharing with the app.
  5. Click the ALLOW ACCESS button.
